PURPOSE

Our journey began in 1927 with a passion for nuts then it evolved, through three generations, into a deep love for coffee.

Today, we craft all kinds of blends, from traditional Greek coffee to Nespresso-compatible capsules, filter coffee, and espresso beans. As we expand our capacity, we aim to focus on sharing our high-quality products with coffee lovers around the world. Our goal is to build strong, trusted brands that people recognize and reach for every day.

COMPANY HISTORY AND PROGRESS

It all started with the comforting crackle of roasting nuts and the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee drifting through a small shop in Chalkida. The year was 1927, and Triandafillos Kalatheris just opened a store.

What began as a humble family business has grown over three generations into REAL FOODS LTD, a name that carries nearly a century of flavor, craft, and ambition. By the 1980s, we were dreaming bigger. New facilities. New machines. We were among the first to introduce vacuum-sealed packs in Greece, sealing in freshness before it became the norm.

Then came the 1990s. With a bold investment and the hum of automation, we leveled up again, scaling our production without ever compromising on quality. That same year, we learned the power of staying ahead and growing smart. In the 2000s, we opened our doors to the world. A partnership with global snack leader INTERSNACK put our production strength to the test and we passed with flying colors. We served the Greek market resiliently, even when the tides turned. But our most exciting chapter was just beginning.

In 2014, we turned a corner. The familiar warmth of roasted coffee beans called us back. We pivoted from nuts to focus fully on coffee and never looked back. By 2015, we had installed Greece’s very first Nespresso-compatible capsule line. Not long after, Buon Gusto Café was born: a name that quickly found its way into thousands of homes.

From there, it was full steam ahead. A new Dolce Gusto line followed in 2018. More machines, more flavor, more dedication. In 2023, our story grew even bolder, joining hands with a foreign group to push our brand beyond borders. And in 2024, with the addition of a new production facility, we expanded both our capacity and our teams.

From a single roasting pot in Chalkida to a full-scale, modern operation serving the world, one thing hasn’t changed: we’re still a family at heart. We believe in doing things well, staying curious, and crafting coffee that brings people together.

  • Cooled coffee moves naturally to the ground floor for packing in high-barrier, modified-atmosphere conditions.

  • Finished products are stored in a temperature- and humidity-controlled basement, ready for shipment.

  • Refrigerated units in the basement protect sensitive SKUs and preserve quality
